Taylor is currently a Freshman at Emory University. Taylor is good friends with Max, and she is able to observe from a girl's perspective what she thinks of our video game playing habits. Because I go to her dorm everyday to see Max and them, I was able to question her real fast. I decided a different set of questions was necessary to interview her.
What do you think of boys playing video games? Is video games strictly a boy thing to do?
I think girls can play too it is simply that the violent shooter games I would say appeal less to girls in general and then there is the societal expectation that only boys can play.
How do you analyze our video game habits right now when we play daily at night? What are your thoughts?
I think a lot of time is spent playing video games but I think it is different depending on whether or not one is playing alone or with a group. I think it has different effects on people's emotional and social interactions because playing alone all the time could get in the way of socializing.
Do you think it is weird when you play video games with guys?
I think it is funny because guys have much bigger egos when it comes to their video game skills but that I've never felt uncomfortable playing with guys.
How much of a friendship you have had with a guy was based a lot on video games?
I usually played with my family. It has been in college that I have played with my guy friends.
How often do you play video games, and where do you rank playing video games among your hobbies?
I would rank them pretty low and I only play them when my friends are playing.
The funny thing is, I asked her those questions right as Max and I decided to set up for some brawl downstairs in the lobby on the big screen TV. Taylor is also one of the few girls that actually joins us when we play, so she grabs a controller right as we are about to begin!
