If I said the GameCube was portable, then the GameBoy is 1000 times more convenient to carry around. A little bigger than an iPhone, I was able to carry this around wherever I went and it countered boredom especially well on long road or plane trips. I got my GameBoy around the same time I got a GameCube, which was in 2nd grade. This was the early 2000s, and every kid my age was into Pokemon. Literally, Pokemon was the only game I played on the GameBoy. You would create in your own adventure inside the game, and try to capture as many Pokemons as possible to add to your collection. What made the Gameboy revolutionary among my friends was the ability to link GameBoys together through cable links. Now we could trade Pokemons and battle each other. In this sense, my friends and I were now worked together in the game. We traded each other different Pokemons, and battled each other to see who was the best. I remember GameBoy battles vividly from elementary school. My friends and I were obsessed with it like nothing else. Even today, I still play the GameBoy, though mostly on flights or road trips. Though the fanatic obsession no longer exists, turning on the GameBoy still brings me back to those days in elementary school where the GameBoy was the center of our lives. I believe that the GameBoy was a step for me to be connected with my friends like the way the Xbox did for me later on in my life. By being able to link up through GameBoy with my friends, we enjoyed the game in a much more thorough way. I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy the wonders of a GameBoy at such a time in my life. I may never actually truly get bored of playing Pokemon on the GameBoy ever!
